1. Involve people throughout the organization in planning and implementing the change.
2. Support the middle.
3. The change method itself must reflect the new desired culture.
Jesse Lyn points out that the middle are often “caught in the middle” between supporting their people and implementing the change from their bosses. She goes on to remind leaders that they need to support the change at all levels and be at the table with them.
The last point is an interesting one and an obvious point that many people will miss – don’t give mixed messages in how you approach the change vs a desired new culture.
